Minecraft Documentary - Minecraft 1.6.6 is OUT

A Minecraft blog here for you guys. Anyone heard of the documentary their making?

Here's a 20 minute (yes 20 minute) trailer for it, well worth a watch. I love the accent Notch has!

A small update by Notch is out featuring the following;

+ Added a new use for bonemeal
* Changed the material of glowstone from “glass” to “stone”. This means you need a pickaxe to get resources from it
* Made glowstone drop more loot
* Made the recipe sizes for creating cloth blocks and glowstone blocks smaller (2x2 instead of 3x3)
* Re-introduced unlimited FPS, renamed the option again
* Fixed beds not working very well at all in SMP
* Fixed destroying a boat spawning the player too low, causing them to sometimes fall through the ground
* Boats float up to the surface quicker
* Boats falling down into water lose their vertical momentum very fast
* Removed Herobrine

Onwards and upwards for patch 1.7.  I'm really enjoying the direction Minecraft is taking.

Nostalgia - Old school PS2 Games

Just whacked out the old PS2 and found some old classics

James Bond 007 Nightfire

The multiplayer on this game truly beats COD hands down, even if you're playing against bots.  I've never had so much fun throwing Oddjob's hat across the snowy level!  The bots had the worst AI ever, walking into walls and missing constantly but it still made for some epic split-screen game play.

Timesplitters: future perfect

Another game with memorable multiplayer capabilities.  Also featured a very simple mapmaker to make fun multiplayer maps.  This was one of the first games I played online using PSN and it was epic!

What were your favourite PS2 games?!

Cool website - iSketch.net

www.iSketch.net

This is a great little website that is similar to the drawing game "Pictionary" that I'm sure you've all played at some point in your life.
Players take turns to draw a word (or words) or words while other players try to guess. Players earn points once they've guessed the word. This is an addictive time waster and free to play, no registration is required. I recommend reading the game instructions and rules because they're fairly strict on what you can and cannot draw in your pictures.

This is what I call POV. Fuck porn!

New Zealand BMXer Jed Mildon has created action-sports history today by landing the world's first Triple Backflip at the Unit T3 Mindtricks BMX Jam in Taupo, New Zealand.

Mildon, 24, stomped the three rotations perfectly during the free-to-the-public BMX show in his home-town.

A representative of the Guinness Book Of World Records was on hand to witness and approve the ground-breaking trick that is sure to send shockwaves through the two-wheeled action-sports industry.

What a lad.

The Walking Dead

See review here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/8105116/The-Walking-Dead-AMC-US-TV-review.html

The Walking Dead is an American post-apocalyptic horror television series developed for television by Frank Darabont and based on the graphic novel series of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard.

The Walking Dead tells the story of the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse; it follows a small group of survivors, traveling across the US in search of a new home away from the  hordes of the undead (Referred to as "walkers" in the series). The group is led by Rick Grimes, who was a sheriff's deputy in a small Georgia town, before the zombie outbreak. As their situation grows more hazardous, the group's desperation to survive pushes them to the brink of insanity. At every turn they are faced with the unbearable horrors that come from having the dead walk again.

So I just got done watching the first series of The Walking Dead.  It's the best TV I've seen in a long time over here.  Defiantly a watch for any post-apocalyptic fans out there and for a TV series the special effects truly gruesome.  The Walking Dead wasn't what I expected,  I expected lots and lots of zombies.
The Walking Dead is more about surviving the apocalypse and what would happen if the dead came back to life.  The series takes a close look on Ricks life but also includes the struggles the others are going through with multiple twists and turns that I was never expecting.  I really cannot wait for series two and I hope it's going to be aired over here.

I'm not going to spoil any of it for you guys but I would defiantly recommend watching it!

Pay how you drive car Insurance

New UK Driving Insurance scheme called "Pay how you drive" is targeted at drivers under 25.
In a nut shell if you're driving is not up to scratch you premiums will be higher than normal, if your driving is good your premiums will be low.

How does it work?

It attaches a smartbox to your car that uses GPS technology to track how you drive your car.  This includes things such as cornering speeds and the time of journey.  The information is then collated and displayed on the website where drivers can log in to see their rating and are given performance reports.
Insurance premiums are calculated every 90 days and drivers can expect to see a discount of up to 11% if their driving is good.
The Co-Operative insurance group estimates 45% of drivers on this scheme will receive the 11% discount leaving the average policy at £1300.

The system has its disadvantages though, many people don't like to be monitored and some users have been complaining about it incorrectly taking data around mini-roundabouts as corners. A few bugs to sort out here really.

Overall, not a bad option in my opinion and something I'm going to look into.  I'm currently getting quotes in excess of 2 grand and I hope this can knock some of it off.

Fish

Who likes my fish?!

Finally getting the hang of this blogging stuff.

Terraria - Biggest time waster EVER!

Terraria is a runaway success of Mojang's Minecraft and it builds upon the core concepts of Infiniminer.  This 2D platformer appeared on Steam and sold over 50,000 copies on it's first day!

Terraria is a unique experience and has an identity of it's own, in Terraria you can deform and reshape randomly-generated terrian.  You start off with a basic set of tools and upgrade to higher tiers by collecting resources from the environment or slaying bosses.

In Terraria you're free to do as you please, but like Minecraft you'd better seek shelter during the night.  During the night phase of the game hordes of evil Zombies and NPC's will lay into you.  If you're caught off guard this can mean for a rather quick death.  In order to survive in Terraria you must build up a base; starting from the most basic of structures but quickly evolving into a huge fortress complete with NPC's.

Terraria is bargain at only 6 quid and features multiplayer for up to 5 players.  I can't really sum up this game in words so here's the trailer!

First post!

This is my first blog, I'm going to update it about about ramblings and general things that happen in my life.  If you're interested then please read on!
I'm a typical student and thought I'd organise my day-to-day goings on in a blog.  Nothing more, nothing less lol.  In this blog I'll be commenting on the latest news I find interesting or on things that have happened recently in my life.  My main hobbies are going to the gym, playing rugby, ICT and gaming. :)

Just something I've found interesting;
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-13510988

"Robots develop language to 'talk' to each other."

Well that concludes more short introduction, hopefully I'll get around to writing something in the near future but I'm overloaded with exams and revision right now!

Cheers.
